Cinnamon Bay, LLC LFG to Energy Facility
The Cinnamon Bay LLC Landfill Gas to Energy Plant is a new, highly efficient Class 1 Renewable Energy electrical generating facility. The plant recovers energy from landfill gases (LFG) which would otherwise be flared or vented. Situated in East Brunswick, New Jersey, the now closed and capped Edgeboro Landfill currently produces more than 3000 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of 506 BTU/cu ft gas continuously. Rather than flaring these gases, Cinnamon Bay LLC installed a highly efficient and reliable 9.6 MW power plant consisting of six Caterpillar 3520 LFG reciprocating engines at 1,600 kW each. Additional considerations and technology were incorporated with the heightened requirements of the air permit and the plant being located in a non attainment area. Edgeboro International was the general contractor for the project and coordinated all phases of the construction of the plant and plant startup. The addition of pollution control Oxidation Catalysts and a state of the art LFG fuel treatment system makes this system one of the most advanced LFG to power systems in the nation. The energy and capacity produced are sold directly to the PJM wholesale market.
